I met up with a prospect who is a business analyst. He claimed to be risk-averse, but will take risks depending on the situation. Believing him, I presented my proposal to him based on a cautious profile. However, I did not manage to acquire him as my client. After learning Pretics, I realized he IS a risk-taker and is one who focuses on the big picture. Since then, I initiated another meetup with him and I adjusted my approach to entice high risk taker.
To my surprise, he likes my proposal pretty quickly and became one of my most valued client. Later during one of our catch-up session, I asked why did he claim to be risk-averse when he is not. He replied this is to avoid product pushing advisers who jacked up their proposals just to entice him.
PRETICS CASE STORY 2
I met up with a prospect who is an operation executive. She is married with two children. She expressed the desire to acquire a Critical Illness plan with a certain sum assured on a term to life basis. So I had proposed according to her requirements.
To my surprise, she became indecisive because of the premium she had to commit to. I presented to her the figures and facts that comes with her requirements as well as presented alternatives. Her reaction was to insist on the sum assured and would not compromise, but at the same time, she was not willing to pay for the premium size. That left me in a whirlwind of confusion.
Since then, I had learnt Pretics, one of the first thing I did was to figure out what I had done wrong. Using Pretics, I realized that she is appealed by emotions but I had been presenting to her cold hard facts and data all this while. I decided to give it a go with what Pretics suggested. In my follow-up meeting with her, I changed my approach and shared with her my own personal experiences and appealed to the emotional side of things.
With my proposal remained unchanged, she took up the plan knowing that insurance is an asset, a gift of love for herself and her family if life crisis were to strike.
